Start from Delhi by 10 pm.
Begin the journey from Dehradun to Karanprayag, located in the Chamoli district of Garhwal Himalayas. During 10-11 hours of drive, will be crossing the towns of Devprayag, Rudraprayag & Karnaprayag which happen to be three of the 5 prayags or confluences of rivers, having religious significance. We will take a pit stop at Devprayag to witness the divine confluence of Alakhnanda and Bhagirathi rivers merging to become the Holy Ganga. By evening, reach Karanprayag & check in into the hotel. After having your dinner. attend the captain briefing for the next day. Lights out!
We will start the day with warm up exercises a wholesome breakfast and drive till Lohajung. Today, we head towards our first camping destination by the lake at Bekaltal. The trail is moderately difficult but passes through some interesting terrains incliding forests, Navali & Bagdi bugyals and long serpentine curves. Midway of the trek, we witness splendid Kali valley where two mountain rivers Kali and Pindari confluence, a beautiful sight to watch. By evening, we will reach the campsite situated near the lake. Dinner will be served followed by an overnight stay in Bekaltal.
After warm-up exercise and a hot breakfast, start trekking towards Brahmatal. Today trek will take you through thickets of oaks and rhododendrons over steep slopes for quite some time before finally coming out to a spectacular meadow called Talindi Top which offers some phenomenal views of Mt. Trishul. After1 km from this meadow, we reach Jhandi Top, the highest point for today trek. It offers the most scenic view of mountains decked one over the other. By early evening, we reach the campsite situated near the lake and relax. The rest of the day is at leisure, followed by dinner and sleep overnight.
After having an early breakfast & briefing, we will start today journey towards Brahmatal lake, which is an uphill climb. Gear up appropriately for high snow & carry enough water to sustain you throughout the journey. After 30 minutes, we will come across the beautiful frozen Brahmatal lake reflecting the morning sunrays surrounded by mesmerizing Himalayan mountain views. Beyond the lake, the trail ascends moderately, then passes through two ridges before reaching the summit. At the top, witness the breath-taking spectacle of snow-clapped mountain ranges, try spotting Mt. Trishul, Mt. Nanda Ghunti, Mt Chaukhamba, Mt. Neelkanth, Mt Kamet & Mt Hathi Ghoda among the ranges. Spend some time at the top immersing in the experience before heading back to the campsite. Dinner and overnight sleep at Brahmatal campsite.
Post breakfast, we will start our trek towards Lohajung following the same route as ascent. The trail will be passing through Oak & rhododendron trees, midway through the trek, we will have our packed lunch. Expect to reach Lohajung in 7-8 hours & start driving towards the hotel in Karanprayag. We can witness the Aarti at Sangam in the evening before we have a delicious dinner. Reflect on your journey once more before retiring for the night.
After having breakfast, start your journey towards Dehradun/Rishikesh. After having lunch at midway, we will take a pit stop at Rishikesh. By late evening, we are back in Dehradun. Trekkers looking to travel on Day 6 itself can be dropped at the bus stand. An overnight journey from Dehradun/Rishikesh to Delhi.
Reach Delhi next morning.
One of the least explored treks of India, Brahmatal Trek is particularly popular during the winters. It Is a high-altitude lake that holds significant meaning for the locals.
Beginning from Lohajung, we trek across various unique destinations on the way. The first stop is Bekaltal which is another lake on our way. Next, we move towards Brahmatal crossing beautiful unexplored oak & rhododendron forests on the way. The silence of the forests makes it even more adventurous here! We also pass meadows that give us majestic views of the famous Mt Trishul & Nanda Ghunti.
Upon reaching the lake, one gets to see the frozen white lake, making the experience even more serene.
